Identity Verification Requirements

The Australian Tax Practitioners Board introduced mandatory client identity verification for all registered Tax Agents from 1 July 2022. This requirement applies to every new client engagement, regardless of the services requested.

The verification process is straightforward. You will need to provide one primary photographic document, such as a current passport or driver licence, or a combination of secondary documents that together confirm your identity. Our team handles this information with strict confidentiality and in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act.

If you prefer to verify in person, you are welcome to visit our offices during business hours. Bring your original documents and a team member will complete the verification with you directly. No appointment is necessary for identity verification alone, though we recommend calling ahead to confirm availability.

We understand that sharing personal documents requires trust. GFM Accountants takes data security seriously. Documents submitted digitally are handled through secure channels and are not retained beyond the period required by law.
